Quick update.

Just wanted to do a quick update. Ended up killing the weaker of the Chernobyl males. Also, the C99 that I thought was male is actually female. So I am going to flower her right next to the male, which will make a whole lot of C99 #2 x Chernobyl #2 seeds; hundreds in fact. The Chernobyl male will be giving pollen in the next week so I am trying to prepare the best I can.
The clones are just starting to root, and I will start to transplant them soon into 4 inch pots. I was worried about them for a bit, it took them over 2 weeks to starting rooting, but all is well. It is good to know that I still have got it in me to do this, and under these circumstances.
I put a screen up in the tent, made out of plastic fencing that I got for super cheap at Home Depot. It seems to be working out pretty good. I am using it as a support more than anything else because I did not stake anything this time. Things are coming together nicely considering there are so many moving parts and so many things that could go wrong (powdery mildew, mites, cat, neighbors, parents, cops, etc.).
Also, I have been working on some names for some of the seeds I will make. Here are a few:
OG/Chem #2 x Chernobyl #2 - Critical Meltdown or Three Mile Island
OG/Chem #3 x Chernobyl #2 - Disaster Relief
C99 #3 x Chernobyl #2 - Fairy Tale
C99 #2 x Chernobyl #2 - Mucho
Kandy Kush #1 x Chernobyl #2 - Lemon-Lime OG
OG18 #1 x Chernobyl #2 - Sirius A
OG18 #2 x Chernobyl #2 - Sirius B

    Any feedback would be welcome.
Male flowers starting to form.

Screen is up.

These two plants are about to have sexual relations. There is love in the air.

The twins are doing good.

Twins!

Didn't even know this was possible. I am going to separate them when they get a little bigger.

Getting to know the males.

This is Chernobyl #2, the better looking of the Chernobyls in my opinion. I rubbed the stem with my fingers and it smelled pretty good. It is also the smaller of the two and it shows no nutrient deficiencies.

This is Chernobyl #1, which is also really good looking. It is a little bit taller and has a little bit more stretch than his brother. Also, he shows some slight nutrient deficiencies on his lower leaves, and I might end up just tossing him. I will keep him around for a bit more though.

This is Cinderella 99 #2, who turned out to be male. I am excited about this one. Not only is it the shortest plant in the whole garden, but it is packed full of branches and has really tight internode spacing. This might be the one I end up breeding with the first time, we will see.

I am going to flower them in the basement shower. It worked out really well that way.

4 of the 5 seeds I planted are up. 2 Jack the Ripper and 2 Chernobyl. Waiting on 1 more Jack the Ripper.
I am going to flower in the next day or so. I have just been kind of overwhelmed with everything going on. I have 3 rooms dedicated to growing now, and it took a lot to get set up and everything. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here. There might be 1 or 2 more males, but I am still unsure so they are still in the tent. I am getting excited. Should be collecting pollen in a couple of weeks.

Word Breeding

There is all of the sudden a lot going on it seems. I am trying to get more organized. I took clones and pruned last night. I plan to flower on Friday, the 16th. That means that I have to set up a separate flower room for the males in the basement. I am going to use the basement bathroom. That should make it easier to clean up the pollen if it gets everywhere. I even took clones of the known males, just as standbys. I am still uncertain of both C99's sex, and also one OG/Chem. Both Chernobyl's are confirmed males. I took measurements of all of the plants heights, widths, internodal spacing, and rated them on overall appearance.
In the basement I planted 5 new seeds for the next grow, which I will plant along with the best clones from this grow. I can get two harvests in before next summer, so that is the plan. I am also taking clones and doing two grows because I am going to use a different male for pollen each time. The first time is going to be a Chernobyl or C99 male. The second could be a Chernobyl, C99, or Jack the Ripper.
Jack the Ripper sounds like some killer weed. "A true 8 week sativa haze, the first thing growers notice is the incredible lemon smell." It's heritage is Pluton x Purple Haze x Lambsbread x NL x Jack Herer x Romulan x C99.
Both Chernobyl and Jack the Ripper are Hybrids (F1's) from TGA Subcool Seeds. TGA stands for The Green Avengers. Subcool is the main breeder. The C99 I have is a Backcross (crossed back with the mother), first generation, from Mosca Seeds in Spain. A lot of people do not like to breed with F1's. In fact, they say that you can't breed or save seed from F1 hybrids. This is, in fact, false, or misleading at least.
What I am doing here is not actually breeding, not yet at least. Breeders would refer to what I am doing as "pollen chucking". The goal of a breeder is to produce seed that is stable, meaning that if 10 seeds are planted, they should all look the same. The seeds that I make will have a HUGE variation. Less variation if I breed with the C99, and more if I breed with the Chernobyl or Jack the Ripper.
The seeds from these batches will hopefully give me some amazing, unique, one of a kind plants, but they will also give me some duds I am sure. It will be worth it in the end. At the very least I am saving seed.
I am hoping to get into human breeding as well, sometime in this lifetime, if you're picking up what I'm putting down. Just got to find the right lady and talk her into it.

transplant

So I ended up transplanting 9 plants (out of 11) into 2 gallon bags, into Fox Farm Happy Frog soil, set under the 1000w metal halide. 2 OG18, 2 C99, 2 OG/Chem, 2 Chernobyl, and 1 Kandy Kush. I didn't plant an odd looking OG18 and a tiny little OG/Chem. The C99, OG/Chem, and Chernobyl are regular seed, and I don't know if they are male or female yet. May end up with 6-9, we will find out soon enough. Some of them   already have some pretty good stank going on. Got a couple of fans going on in there and a 6 inch fan sucking air from the top out into the ducting of my house (check out last picture and tell me what you think.) I just came up with that idea on the fly.
I will take better pictures next week. I plan to flower in a week or two, as soon as they get going again really. I don't want them too big. Also, I haven't topped them or pruned them really, so I am going to do that in the next couple of days and then spray with seaweed right after. I plan on taking clones of these and collecting pollen from one of the males (if there is one) in the basement. We will see. It's hard to go at it alone.
